REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) - UNDP

A comprehensive study on the Gender Initiatives supporting women and other vulnerable groups in political Participation in Uganda.

Background

The United Nations is committed to promoting gender mainstreaming and women's empowerment in its operations and [1]programmatic work. It is in light of this that a Joint Programme on Gender Equality has been developed with a purpose of enhancing collaboration among the UN agencies and ensuring coherence in programming. The Joint Programme for Gender Equality rightly observes that women's representation at parliamentary and local government levels has unfortunately not significantly exceeded the 30% reserved for women. This implies that women have not been able to compete favorably with men for competitive seats at all levels. Women's political participation has been identified as one of the key strategies for achieving women's economic, political and social equality and sustainable development.



The UN Joint Programme intends to carry out a comprehensive study on the gender initiatives that are in place (or should be put in place) to support effective women and other vulnerable groups' political participation for purposes of strengthening and informing systems and structures both at national and local levels.

UNDP is hereby requesting qualified national/international consultancy firms/institutions to submit their proposals to undertake the above studies based on the based on the Request for Proposal available on the websites indicated below.

Technical and financial proposals (in separate SEALED envelopes) clearly marked “RFP: A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON THE GENDER INITIATIVES SUPPORTING WOMEN AND OTHER VULNURABLE GROUPS IN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN UGANDA” should be submitted to the address below on or before 4:00p.m, 31st January 2011.
